Join us in July for the first EOV training in Northern Spain!

Curly Creek Ranch is proud to host the first-ever EOV Monitor training accredited by the Savory Institute in northern Spain from July 18 to 22, 2022. This five-day training will be taught by EOV Master Verifier Ramiro Garcia Pinto from the Pampa Oriental hub in Uruguay, who is travelling here specifically for this course taught in Spanish.

EOV (Ecological Outcome Verification) measures and trends key indicators of ecosystem function, which in the aggregate indicate positive or negative trends in the overall health of a landscape. In addition to providing an outcome-based verification of the health of the land base, EOV also provides critical intelligence to the farmer as a steward and manager of the land. By recognizing both land regeneration targets and trends, EOV endorsement and associated incentives are bestowed as long as land health moves in a net positive direction. In short, EOV is the data and science behind demonstrating regeneration.

The EOV Monitor training held at the ranch will use the ecoregion matrix appropriate for the northern mountainous region. If you participated in the EOV Monitor training held in Elvas, Portugal in April 2022, the methodology is the same but the matrix, species and transitions are adapted to local area.

Those who participate in this course may seek accreditation through the Savory Institute to become EOV Monitors. To become an accredited EOV Monitor, one must participate in the entire five-day course, undergo EOV monitoring at two farms and upload the data to the official EOV platform. Only Savory Institute Accredited Professionals (APs) can become full EOV Monitors, but those who are not APs may become accredited to do short-term monitoring. APs must do their first farm for submission to the EOV platform under the guidance of an accredited EOV monitor, but the second farm they can do on their own if they so wish. Those who are not APs must be overseen by an accredited EOV monitor for both farms.
